On the back it says, "A Bible especially for pre-readers."

But it's not.

It truly is the greatest Christian graphic novel I've ever seen.

It's called "See With Me Bible", and it's published by Zondervan's children department, ZonderKidz.

My father gave my kids this book when we were visiting them a little while ago. I'll admit, he gave it to "them" because when I flipped through it . . . I flipped.

This book goes through the entire Bible (through the entire Bible, although it doesn't adapt the entire Bible) and, even from the table of contents page, it presents some of the most gorgeous and through provoking artwork I've ever seen in a Biblical adaptation.

Now, don't let this book's placement in a store fool you. Don't let the publisher fool you. This is not a kid's book. This is a fully rendered sequential retelling of the Bible. It is a comic book. Drawn by Dennis Jones (I've mentioned him before HERE), I still am in awe when I "read" this book.

In "See With Me Bible" you will find true joy. Pathos. Energy. Wit. Illumination. All these go beyond the scope of a "children's book" or, frankly, a "graphic novel". When I say there is "joy" on the page, I mean just that. You can see the joy of the artist and his love for the subject. Some of the images -- and I do not say this lightly -- nearly brought tears to my eyes.

But you really can't take my word for it. This is something that needs to be experienced.

Yes, it was designed with pre-schoolers in mind. But it holds such rich detail and beauty and divine inspiration, it will be -- and again I do not use this word lightly -- a blessing to anyone reading it.

Sure, say you're buying it for the kids. But then, you may do as I did tonight . . . after tucking my son in, I steathily tucked it under my arm and looked through the whole thing cover to cover . . .
